Easier then using my fillet knifeMy husband always used a sharp paring knife to open oysters with the hope of never slicing his hand open. Thank goodness he didn’t. This is much safer to use and works great. The only problem is when an oyster shell is very, very tight it is harder to get this knife in and a sharp knife has to be used.
